Michele's 1st Blog!

Hi my name is Michele Elise Meyer, I was born on August 18th, 2006, and this is my 1st blog so all of my family and friends can keep up with my progress and see all of the pictures that Mommy & Daddy are taking of me.

Well, summer is winding down now. Does this mean that my birthday will forever signify that summer is almost over? Anyway, I haven't been feeling so great recently -- a post-cake hangover perhaps -- but I wanted to share some more video footage from my party.

Here's some video of people singing "Happy Birthday" and me eating some of my yummy cake!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! Can you believe that I'm a whole year old now? It's been such an eventful year -- is it always like this? Anyway, for my birthday yesterday, Mommy and Daddy had a party for me in Central Park with lots of family and friends. It was so much fun seeing all the people I know, playing around, and eating birthday cake, though I have to admit it was also a little overwhelming for me. Thanks to all my family and friends for joining me and for all the great gifts!

Of course, Mommy and Daddy wanted to mark the occasion by visiting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (or NICU if you want to be fancy) at the hospital where I was born. I had a very rough beginning to my life and the nurses and doctors at the Lenox Hill Hospital NICU took such great care of me, so we stopped in for a visit to say hi and thanks and show them how big and healthy I am now.

Here's how Mommy & Daddy started my big day -- please excuse my bedhead!

Here's my yummy birthday cake.

There's me with Mommy, Eva, and Grandma & Grandpa Peck.

I was passed around like a hot potato. Here I am with Grandma Schrager.

My first taste of cake, definitely not my last.

Thank you Lenox Hill Hospital for 4 weeks of great care!

I can get used to this summer thing -- lots of fun in the sun. When I'm not playing outside, I'm perfecting my crawling inside and working on my vocabulary. Some of my favorite words are Momma, Dadda, this, that, ça ("that" in French, of course), and dog.

I also had my first photo session with my Grandpa Meyer. Here's a link to the photos, isn't he a great photographer?

Here's another video of me in action going after those elusive shoelaces. I've already gotten even better since!

See? I can go up the stairs of our living room.

Just practicing for my big day later this week...

I've seen all these forks and knives, but I like my good old hands!
